Robin Prior and RCS Africa's latest addition Gugulethu Mangyani braved the 43C temperatures of Sudan to put the UN's second station in the region onto the world's finest software solution for broadcast.
The team rolled out with Selector, Linker, Master Control and RCS Newsroom into networked shipping containers that have been modified into broadcast studios. Challenges included setting up the system to support Arabic Text and keyboards.
The Juba site will now be collaborating with the previously installed Khartoum operation to deliver engaging and uplifting content to communities throughout this war-torn region. The stations are manned under UN guidance by locals who have never worked in radio or with computers before but are being empowered by the medium and assisted by our product line.
The next project will hopefully take place in Darfour and will see the entire country provided with radio navigated by the RCS product line. With any luck the war will have also come to an end by that time...
